Avec les sournois appels de l'Ouest, on faisait croire que le moderne venait de chez nous. Eux, ils entendaient. Et nous, les nomades, nous jouions aux vilains petits canards, leur rappelant le bonheur qu'ils avaient à vivre dans un village qui se tourne doucement vers l'avenir avec le son des cloches du passé qui résonne encore. A l'Ouest, la modernité anesthésiée se vit dans des maisons sans âme.

With the vicious calls from the West, it was still thought to mean modernity. Them, they were listening. And us, the nomads, were playing at the ugly duck game, reminding us the happiness they have to still live in a village that slowly turns towards the future but keeps an eye at the past. In the West, the numb modernity is lived in soulless houses.

From inside cultures, people and countries, Léon wants to reflect the world as it is. With and without lines, Léon tries not to lie about what he sees and lets know what people express, and what landscapes tell.
